Iain Duncan Smith speaks at Relate Lecture

18 February 2016

The Relate Lecture was held with Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Iain Duncan Smith MP, in Whitehall on Wednesday 10th February. This successful event, which was chaired by Fraser Nelson, editor of the Spectator, also doubled as the launch for Relate’s new policy report, All together now: Stronger relationships for a stronger society.

At the event, the Secretary of State announced the extension of the Local Family Officer scheme, through a new “Healthy Relationships Fund”. Iain Duncan Smith said:
“Working with OnePlusOne and the Innovation Unit, we are supporting 12 local areas to work up their own strategies to embed support for parents in local family services. And I am pleased to be able to announce today, that we will extend that work to more areas across the country later this year. We will do this through a new Healthy Relationships Fund. This will support those councils who are committed to bringing forward comprehensive strategies to strengthen families. The investment will support the culture change that is needed….and it will help ensure the evidence of what works leads us in shaping local services.”
