Auction raises record funds to help local young people

29 November 2016

More than £2,750 was raised to support counselling for children and young people in Bedfordshire at the third charity auction run by Relate Bedfordshire and Luton.

The sum is the biggest amount raised from an auction to date by the local Relate team.

“Not many people realise that more than 50% of all our counselling is with children and young people,” says centre CEO Angela Foll, “and so the generous support we received from people bidding at the auction and local traders who provided the auction lots is vital and very much appreciated.”

Angela herself (pictured top at the auctioneer desk) took on the role of auctioneer with the assistance of saleroom manager Evan Willison (below, standing right) at the auction rooms of Charles Ross, Woburn, who hosted the event for the second year running.

Donated lots included visits to Center Parcs Woburn Forest and the National Space Centre in Leicestershire as well as hair and beauty treatments at local salons 5th Avenue Hair & Beauty Spa, Changes Hairdressing and Brook Hair & Beauty, rounds of golf at South Beds Golf Club, refreshments at the House of Commons with local MP Andrew Selous, thrills at Twinwoods Adventure, Milton Ernest, House of Commons champagne and tour of the House of Commons from local MP Alistair Burt, a behind-the-scenes visit to Newmarket Races, and the chance to relax over Sunday lunch at Galloway’s Restaurant, Woburn, or on a John Bunyan Community Boat.
