A new experience: the Great Outdoors

15 June 2016

Students in local schools can build self-confidence and self-esteem – by experiencing the Great Outdoors.

In an age when perhaps younger people are more likely to have their heads down over a tablet, the ‘I CAN!’ initiative by The Chellington Centre and our Relate Centre enables them to take part in countryside activities.

The one-day programme from Chellington, a residential young people’s venue at Carlton, just outside Bedford, and Relate Bedfordshire and Luton is run by youth-qualified trainers for 10 to 16 year-olds and has a maximum of 30 students per course. A key part of the day is a freshly prepared, wholesome lunch!

Schools are invited to reserve a course for their students which will be held on October 18 this year and on March 7 and May 9 next year. Other dates are available upon request. The cost is £675 per school group.

Relate Bedfordshire and Luton has a significant track record of working with children and young people through funded counselling, in particular at the TOKKO youth space in the centre of Luton.

Surrounded by open countryside, Chellington is a top venue for youth groups to create team spirit, run a National Citizen Service Challenge, learn new skills, or celebrate an achievement.

The centre works with several partners who offer activities such as forest skills, archery and kayaking on the River Ouse.

To book your place or for more information about the course contact Relate Bedfordshire and Luton’s Education & Learning team on 01234 342503 or email us.
